Latest Updates from Our Project:

thank you for supporting the arcade
over 3 years ago – Tue, Dec 08, 2020 at 11:35:59 AM

Hello, this is Dustin Long, president of the Death by Audio Arcade collective. I wanted to thank you for supporting our Kickstarter last year in order to allow us to open Wonderville. It has been so important having a home for indie arcade games to live at, so that the public can experience and enjoy them.

Prior to the opening, DBAA's collection of cabs was essentially nomadic, moving from place to place, going in and out of storage, as best as we could manage. After the insanity of 2018, wherein we collaborated with over a dozen venues, art spaces, and like-minded indie game groups, we knew we needed to find a permanent space of our own. Thankfully, 2019 saw the opening of Wonderville, which served as an invaluable home into which we got settled.

When I took over this position at the start of 2020, we had grand ambitions to return to working with other venues, moving cabinets to and fro, except now with a homebase to return to. Of course, that did not come to pass. This year has been an especially difficult time, full of great loss and sadness. It also goes without saying that it's been a bad time to be an organization working on physical gaming exhibitions. Meanwhile, Wonderville has been doing its best to support itself, but as most of its income comes from being a bar, it has also been struggling to stay afloat. It has been fortunate to survive almost a year already, but winter is just getting started and more lockdowns may be on the horizon.

So once again we're asking if you are able to help, so that we can Save the Arcade. I know it's a lot to ask for more so soon after the last time, and that there are many people and places in the same situation. Even still, we want to do everything we can to help ensure that all the work and energy that's been put into this project doesn't disappear so quickly. If you have the means and motivation, we would appreciate anything you're able to give. Please see https://www.deathbyaudioarcade.com/fundraiser, wherein we are auctioning off a number of special pieces of merchandise, and tune in to our telethon on Sunday, December 20th! You can read more about it in this recent feature article in amNY: https://www.amny.com/new-york/brooklyn/save-the-arcade-brooklyns-wonderville-hosts/

Help us share our love of indie arcades and physical gaming with the world!

COVID19 and Wonderville Take-Out
almost 4 years ago – Sat, Jun 20, 2020 at 10:33:40 AM

Hey Wonderville Family!

It's been a while since our last update so we want to fill you in on how things are going since the COVID19 pandemic began back in March.

Wonderville had been closed from March 15th until this past weekend. During this time, we ran a few virtual events on our Twitch page including a big concert that took place inside of Minecraft! You can watch it on our Youtube channel. We also hosted the Super Social Distance Game Jam which resulted in some pretty amazing games over the course of a weekend. We've got a few remote events in the pipeline, so be sure to check our events calendar

We were also selected for the Vans Foot The Bill campaign! You can buy a pair of custom Wonderville Vans and we will receive the net proceeds after manufacturing and shipping. This ends on Monday June 22nd so get em while you can!

Now that we're allowed to sell drinks to-go, we decided to open at the beginning of June for takeout. Currently, we're only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but as the city opens up, we will be open more days.

We also wanted to give an update on one of our rewards: the amazing enamel pins we commissioned for the Kickstarter. When the Kickstarter ended, we found ourselves with a pile of extras, which we kept as they were always meant to be KS-exclusive rewards. We've had a great year since the KS and the opening, but as you might guess, COVID19 has taken a huge toll on the business, and we need all the help we can get to stay afloat right now. We've decided to start selling the enamel pins as a way to support the business and everyone who works to keep it running, keep the doors open, and keep it awesome. This also means that if you wanted some extras or your friends have been eyeing those cool pins, now's your chance! We also have the USB snack packs from DBA Arcade, copies of the indie board game Nika, and Star Versus cartridges that you can play on the NES - so there's a lot of great stuff to pick up in addition to drinks!

If you're local to NYC and don't mind wandering out on the weekends, we'd love to see your faces! As you might imagine, it's a tough time for business owners, but we're optimistic about opening back up slowly. If you'd like to direct donate, we are accepting donations through PayPal at

paypal.me/wonderville

Thanks and stay safe!

P.S. If you are protesting, thank you! We've been collecting and distributing supplies for protestors in NYC. At the moment, we're looking for medical supplies like gauze, hand sanitizer, bottled water, flashlights, tents, blankets, and tarps! Please reach out of you'd like to drop off or collect supplies: [email protected]

over 4 years ago – Mon, Sep 30, 2019 at 08:05:35 PM

Hello everyone! We realized that a few people did not receive their Wonderbundle code. Sorry about that! Yesterday we sent out another batch to the folks we missed. Thanks for your patience there. If you backed at $20 or more you should have gotten and email from Itch.io with the subject “[itch.io] Wonderbundle - The Wonderbundle is here! Thanks for backing Wonderville!” If you didn't receive the bundles, check your spam filter - it would have come from itch.io and you'll need to create an account (for free) to download the files for Windows or Mac. Please let us know if you didn't receive anything! Thanks again, we love you all <3 Mark and Steph
